Estate Caparsa and its wines and other products
The Caparsa estate is composed with the stone-house Caparsa and stone-house Caparsino. The two constructions are placed in the center of the remarkable landscape, typical of the area. The houses are still totally used as apartments for workers and tourists, and wine cellars. Photo Eged cellar (40 KB) - Photo di Caparsa (30 KB)
The estate for many centuries was the property of one of the greater noble families of Radda in Chianti who entrusted the estate to the share-cropping contract (division of the products half and half between the land-owner and the peasant families who worked the estates). In 1965, Caparsa came into the hands of the Cianferoni family that has among its members prof. Reginaldo, one of the greater students of the territory of Chianti, its economy and its wine. The estate today is directed by his son Paolo, young agricultural entrepreneur (Photo 10 KB), who with his family (Photo 20 KB), in a short period of time has realized and taken care of programs to obtain high quality wine, thanks to extreme care of all the phases of production: the operations in the vineyard, the grape harvest, the vinification and the aging of the wine. The wines are produced with the grapes of the estate situated in Radda in Chianti in the province of Siena, in the heart of the zone of production of the Chianti Classico wine, on hilly lands (galestri and alberese) particularly adapted to the production of quality vines. With this in mind the ancient chiantigiana vitivinicola tradition has been studied and continued. The wine and the grapes are rigidly selected with low yields and natural yeasts are used. The estate use natural products against the parassites of the vines: in particular herbicides, the use of insecticides and antimildew have been abolished, while the use of fungicides, made up of only copper and sulfur, has been reduced by 60%. The fertilization is carried out only with organic products, and the use of self-seeding grass is adopted in all the estate. Since 2000 the drainage of the estate has been dealt by a fito-depuration system. In brief the company produces with independent biological methods and at the same time it tries to bring to light and to convey the culture of the environmental protection. All this has contributed to obtaining acknowledgments from some of the experts of the local market and numerous consumers scattered all over the world and beyind Diplomas of International Competition "Gran Menzione" at Vinitaly. Many reference from Decanter, Vinum and Alles Uber Wein magazines. At the last the Chianti Classico wine "Doccio a Matteo" results one of the top wine of Italy "Tre Bicchieri, Vini d'Italia 2004" of "Gambero Rosso".
The company, leads a premise for the direct selling in close Radda in Chianti, in via Rome 17, (Photo of the shop) next to the Palace of the Podestà, where the wines of the estate can be acquired and be tasted.
It is finally to find that the company particularly is interested to remember and to illustrate its small history and that one of the territory of the Chianti Classico. It is an example the label of the wine " Caparsino " that represents the figure of the " noble Chiantino loved peasant of the good wine! ". He lived in Caparsino to the end of the slid century, design executed from Mino Maccari, one of the most illustrious Italian contemporary painters. The " Chiantino " was famous in all the Chianti and out of Chianti for the hoaxes which were object assets and liabilities, in part told in the book "Veglie a Porcignano".
